Step 1: Locate your master vector logo file (5 minutes)
AI, EPS, SVG, or layered PDF. Required — raster JPG/PNG won't scale to merch sizes without quality loss.
Step 2: Convert text to outlines (2 minutes)
Open in Illustrator, select text, Type → Create Outlines. Prevents font substitution issues at vendor.
Step 3: Embed all linked artwork (2 minutes)
File → Embed all linked images. Or save as PDF with 'Preserve Illustrator Editing Capabilities' option.
Step 4: Specify Pantone PMS codes (5 minutes)
Open Color Window → Switch to Pantone+ PMS Coated/Uncoated library. Map each spot color to its Pantone equivalent.
Step 5: Provide color reference (CMYK + RGB) (3 minutes)
Even if Pantone is primary, also provide CMYK and RGB values for digital previews and CMYK printing methods.
Step 6: Verify minimum size requirements (5 minutes)
Logo at smallest intended print size should still be legible. Detail elements <0.5mm at print scale will not reproduce. Simplify if needed.
Step 7: Save as production-ready PDF (2 minutes)
File → Save As → Adobe PDF (Print) → Press Quality preset. Include bleed marks if for printed material.
